Installation of kitchen extraction/ventilation system to rear lightwell and rear elevation (Part Retrospective)
The design and specification of the kitchen extraction system does not provide for the adequate dispersal of cooking smells. Therefore the proposed duct would be likely to cause an odour nuisance to the occupiers of neighbouring dwellings. This would not meet Policies 7 and 37 of the City Plan 2019 - 2040 (2026) and the Environment Supplementary Planning Document (2026).
The applicant has failed to demonstrate that the kitchen extraction system would comply with the Council's noise criteria requiring the design noise level to be at least 10dB below the measured background noise level. The proposal would therefore be likely to result in noise disturbance to neighbouring occupiers, harmful to their residential amenity. The development is contrary to Policies 7 and 37 of the City Plan 2019-2040 (January 2026) and the Environmental Supplementary Planning Document (2026).
