The proposed staircase and privacy screens, by virtue of its height, size and design would result in an incongruous and discordant addition which would be out of keeping with the character of the original dwelling and the surrounding area. This would be contrary to the requirements of policy DMP1 within Brent’s Development Management Policies (2016) and the guidance contained in Brent’s SPD2 guidance (2018).

The proposed staircase and privacy screens by reason of its size, design and positioning would appear overbearing and overly-dominant creating an undue sense of enclosure and loss of light and outlook, to the detriment of the residential amenity of adjoining and neighbouring properties.
